Dr Jackie Huggins AM FAHA

Prior to her work as a consultant in 2011, Jackie Huggins worked at the University of Queensland for 14 years.  An Historian and Author she has written and worked widely across academia, community and government spheres.  Dr Huggins has had a long involvement in Reconciliation issues in Australia as a Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation member and a Co-Chair of Reconciliation Australia for many years.  In 2008, she Co-Chaired the Indigenous stream of the 2020 Summit.  Jackie has played a key role in the establishment of the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples and has a distinguished record of public service and professional achievement locally, state-wide, nationally and internationally.  Her current positions are Queensland Public Service Commissioner, Member of the Australian Heritage Council and Director, Telstra Foundation.  Jackie is the granddaughter of a First World War soldier and the daughter of a POW who served in the Burma/Thailand Railway.  Her late Mother remained a proud War Widow all her life.
