Mr Ian Campbell PSM (Ex-Officio)

In September 2008, Ian Campbell was appointed the Secretary of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, President of the Repatriation Commission and Chair of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission.  From January 2000 until July 2005, Ian was the Deputy President of the Repatriation Commission, a position which also performs the duties of the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.   The Repatriation Commission provides pensions and other benefits as well as health and other services to more than half a million veterans and members of the Australian Defence Force, their partners, widows/widowers and children.  Ian was also a member of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission which provides benefits and support to veterans and serving members of the Australian Defence Force who suffer an injury or disease due to service after 1 July 2004.  The Department of Veterans’ Affairs provides the necessary administrative support to enable both Commissions to perform their functions.  From July 2005 until September 2008, Ian was the Australian Electoral Commissioner.
